Alejandra Martínez Spíndola is a proud woman deeply connected to her roots and a tireless advocate for Oaxacan culture. From an early age, Alejandra was drawn to the richness of traditional textiles from her homeland, particularly those from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Throughout her life, she has found ways to merge these ancestral pieces with contemporary design, creating unique works that celebrate the art of Mexican embroidery.
An Academic and Spiritual Journey
Beyond her cultural advocacy, Alejandra has an impressive academic background. She is a lawyer with two postgraduate degrees, demonstrating her determination and discipline. However, her life extends beyond the legal field. She is also a Facilitator of Access Consciousness, a practice that allows her to guide others in self-discovery and the expansion of their potential.
Fashion with Identity and Purpose
Alejandra’s love for design led her to become a fashion stylist and image consultant, fields where she has found the perfect space to combine her passion for fashion with her commitment to cultural identity. Her creations are not only meant to beautify but also to tell a story: the story of the hands that crafted the embroidery, the traditions she has inherited, and the women who carry this textile richness with them.
The "Tehuana Viajera" Project
One of Alejandra’s most significant projects is "Tehuana Viajera." Through this initiative, Alejandra seeks to showcase the beauty and richness of traditional embroidery from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. Through a series of images captured in various cities across Mexico and the world, Alejandra wears the traditional Isthmus attire, proving that Oaxacan garments not only belong to their place of origin but have a place anywhere in the world.
