Becoming an Artisan

From a young age, Maricela was immersed in the world of craftsmanship, thanks to her parents, both of whom were artisans. Growing up in their workshop allowed her to start exploring art at the age of 10. Today, at 46 years old, she proudly celebrates 36 years of dedication to this noble tradition that is an integral part of who she is.

Dreams and Goals

Maricela specializes in creating profile lacquer jewelry, inspired by the rich flora and fauna of Pátzcuaro. Her goal is to design even finer pieces, incorporating traditional techniques to elevate her art to new heights. She dreams of having her creations recognized worldwide, showcasing the beauty and value of Michoacán’s craftsmanship.

Meaning of Being an Artisan

For Maricela, being an artisan is much more than a profession; it is a family legacy and a profound honor. It is a way to connect with her past and preserve a tradition she considers a special gift. Her passion for craftsmanship and her desire to share Pátzcuaro's richness with the world reflect her commitment to her region's culture and art.
