Sonia García Alva is a passionate artisan, born and raised in the heart of Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán. Since she was a child, her life has been intertwined with the beauty and art of copper, inheriting a tradition that has passed from generation to generation in her family.
Becoming an Artisan
Surrounded by the warm sound of copper hammering, Sonia found her true calling at the age of 17, when she created her first piece: a humble copper plate. With love and dedication, she displayed it in her father's store. To her surprise, a buyer noticed the care and affection with which it had been crafted and, captivated by her work, not only bought the plate, but ordered a dozen more. This simple gesture ignited a spark in Sonia that propelled her to follow her path as an artisan, convinced that she could transform copper into something more than objects, into true works of art charged with emotion and meaning.
Dreams, Goals, and Plans
Sonia's greatest dream is to be recognized as an exclusive designer, whose creativity and vision shine through in every piece. For her, each design is an extension of her soul, and her greatest desire is to share that part of herself with the world, taking the art of Santa Clara to new horizons.
